It borders the Sea of Japan (East Sea of Korea) to the east. ==Physical features== To the west, there are high mountains but the eastern portion of the county is flat. The highest peak is Chongamsan (정암산). The chief river is the Ryonghung. Several islands are situated around the Songjon Bay (송전만).
